Stadium:
ARCO Arena
ARCO Arena is an indoor arena located in Sacramento, California, United States. After playing in the make-shift facility called the Original ARCO Arena, this version was completed in 1988, at a cost of $40 million — entirely privately financed. It is home to the NBA's Sacramento Kings and the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs. The arena seats 17,317 for basketball, and has 30 luxury suites and 412 club seats. The arena has been noted for its loud character and continual at-capacity crowds, which, combined with wood floors, make it a tough environment for visiting teams. It is considered the loudest NBA arena. The arena has hosted the NCAA Tournament four times as a first and second rounds venue in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2007. In 1993 and 1994, the arena also hosted several NHL exhibition and neutral site games. It played host to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's UFC 65 on November 18, 2006. It also is a regular stop for World Wrestling Entertainment events, including two pay-per-views (Royal Rumble 1993 and Judgment Day 2001).

Team History:
The franchise that would become the Sacramento Kings initially played in Rochester, New York, as the Rochester Royals of the National Basketball League. The Royals got their nickname from Crown Royal whiskey. When the team was first established as a semi-pro team their main sponsor was the Rochester distributor for Crown Royal. After turning professional the team was known as the Rochester Pros. Upon entering the NBL the name was changed to Royals and the new nickname proved to be a natural winner because of its alliteration. Success for the Royals was almost immediate. Founded in 1945 by owner/coach/general manager Les Harrison (Hall of Famer) and his brother and co-owner/business manager Jack Harrison, the team won the NBL championship in 1946. In 1948, the Royals moved to the Basketball Association of America, which absorbed the NBL the following year to become the National Basketball Association. The Royals won the NBA title in 1951, the last championship in the team's history to date. Top players in this era included Arnie Risen, Bob Davies and Bobby Wanzer, all Hall of Famers.

Season Preview:
The Sacramento Kings today signed rookie center Spencer Hawes, the team's first round selection (10th overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft, and rookie free agent Mustafa Shakur to contracts, according to Kings' President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. At 19, Hawes entered the draft after his freshman season at the University of Washington where he earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 and All-Freshman Pac-10 honors. Hawes led the Huskies in scoring and ranked second in rebounding, averaging 14.9 points (10th in Pac-10) and 6.4 rebounds per game through 31 outings.
