Stadium:
Rose Garden Arena
The Rose Garden Arena is the main indoor sports arena in Portland, Oregon. It is owned by Vulcan Sports and Entertainment, a holding company owned by Paul Allen, and is currently managed by Global Spectrum, a company which manages sports facilities (and which also owns several sports franchises). The primary tenant is the Portland Trail Blazers NBA franchise, also owned by Allen. The arena, which opened on October 12, 1995 with a ceremony to honor Blazers' fans and the construction workers who built it, was originally capable of seating 20,340 spectators for NBA basketball. Its capacity has since been reduced to 19,980 by subsequent modifications. At the time of its construction, the arena was a state-of-the-art facility. The first regular season game to be played at the Rose Garden was the Trail Blazers hosting the then-Vancouver Grizzlies on November 3, 1995.

Team History:
The Trail Blazers entered the NBA in 1970 as an expansion team, and have played in Portland for the entire time. In 1977 they won their only NBA Championship. The team was a regular fixture in the NBA Playoffs through 2003. The team was sold to Paul Allen in 1988. In 1990 and 1992 the Blazers advanced to the NBA Finals but were defeated both times, first by the Detroit Pistons and then by the Chicago Bulls. The Blazers failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2003-04 and 2004-05, posting records of 41-41 and 27-55. In the 2005-06 season, the team posted a league-worst record of 21-61. The Blazers, a team that owns the second best all-time record for consecutive postseason appearances (21 years in a row), have missed the playoffs four years in a row, the second highest active streak in the NBA.

Season Preview:
The Portland Trail Blazers acquired guard/forward James Jones and the draft rights to guard Rudy Fernandez, whom Phoenix selected with the No. 24 pick, in exchange for cash considerations, it was announced Wednesday by Trail Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard. Jones, 26, averaged 6.4 points and 2.3 rebounds with a .368 shooting percentage from beyond the arc in 2006-07, his second season with the Suns. Originally selected by the Pacers with the 49th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, the fifth-year pro from the University of Miami (FL) has career numbers of 6.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and a .395 mark from 3-point range. "We are thrilled to have a long-range shooter and a young man with very high character in James Jones," said Pritchard. "And Rudy Fernandez is a tremendous prospect who has excelled at the highest levels of international basketball."
