US Airways Center
US Airways Center (formerly America West Arena) is a sports and entertainment facility located in Phoenix. It has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride. The arena, which is situated down the street from Chase Field, is named after its sponsor, US Airways, under a naming rights arrangement. After America West's merger with US Airways, it was announced that America West Arena would be renamed to US Airways Center on November 14, 2005 with the name change taking place in January 2006.

Team History:
On January 22, 1968, the NBA awarded expansion franchises to an ownership group from Phoenix and one from Milwaukee. The primary investors in the Phoenix franchise at its inception had close ties to Tucson, Arizona's second largest city. They were: Richard Bloch, a Southern California investment broker/real estate developer and former Tucson resident (no relation to the Richard Bloch who was the co-founder of tax preparation provider H&R Block). Karl Eller, owner of a major outdoor advertising company and one of the Phoenix area's most influential business leaders at that time. He was a former football player for The University of Arizona; Donald Pitt, a Tucson-based attorney; Don Diamond, Tucson-based real estate investor who eventually replaced Eller on the ownership managing team.

Season Preview:
The Phoenix Suns announced today that they have signed rookie forward Alando Tucker, the 29th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Tucker, the 2007 Big Ten Player of the Year and a First Team All-American by The Associated Press, averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 36 games in his senior season with the Badgers. He was also one of four finalists for the Naismith Trophy given to the national player of the year, along with eventual winner Texas forward Kevin Durant (2nd overall to Seattle), Texas A&M guard Acie Law IV (11th overall to Atlanta) and North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough. The 6-6, 205-pound forward finished as Wisconsin’s all-time leading scorer (2,217 points), surpassing former Suns draft pick Michael Finley (21st overall in the 1995 NBA Draft). Tucker, 23, also holds seven other school records, including games played (134), games started (126), minutes played (4,297), field goals (798), free throws (520), free throw attempts (817) and offensive rebounds (314).
