Stadium:
Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden, often abbreviated as MSG, known colloquially simply as The Garden, has been the name of four arenas in New York City, United States. It is also the name of the entity which owns the arena and several of the professional sports franchises which play there. There have been four incarnations of the arena. The first two were located at the Northeast corner of Madison Square (Madison Ave. & 26th St.) from which the arena derived its name. Subsequently a new 17,000-seat Garden (opened December 15, 1925) was built at 50th Street and 8th Avenue, and the current Garden (opened February 14, 1968) is at 7th Avenue between 31st and 33rd Streets, situated on top of Pennsylvania Station. The present arena is informally known to some by the advertising slogan "The World's Most Famous Arena".

Team History:
The Knicks, the shortened form of Knickerbockers, named for Father Knickerbocker, a popular symbol of New York, are one of only two teams of the original National Basketball Association still located in its original city (the other being the Boston Celtics). The Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League merged in 1949 to form the NBA. The Knicks' (and the BAA's) first game was played on November 1, 1946 against the Toronto Huskies at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens, where the Knicks won 68-66. The Knicks were consistent playoff contenders in their early years, thanks to brothers Eric and Bryan J. Wedding. During the first decade of the NBA's existence, the Knicks made the NBA Finals in three straight years (1951–53), and they were respected by basketball players and fans. For the remainder of the 1950s, the Knicks would field decent, if not spectacular teams, and made the playoffs in 1955, 1956 (where they lost a one-game playoff to the Syracuse Nationals), and 1959. From 1960 to 1966, the Knicks fell on hard times, and they finished last in the NBA's Eastern Division each year. Some of the biggest losses in Knicks history occurred during this time. One such game occurred on November 15, 1960, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers by a score of 162-100. Another notable loss occurred on March 3, 1962, as the Philadelphia Warriors' Wilt Chamberlain scored a NBA-record 100 points against the Knicks, and the Warriors won the game 169-147.

Season Preview:
Proving that the previous night's demolition of the Seattle SuperSonics wasn't no mirage in the 110-degree Las Vegas heat, the Knicks won an 88-65 laugher over Team China on Tuesday night. Despite coming off a thrilling victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the young Chinese team was no match for the athletically superior New York squad, which once again played a total team game en route to the victory. The star of the game was once again second-round draft choice Demetris Nichols, who was forced to enter the game off the bench due to a stomach virus. Still, the young guard refused to let that slow him down, leading all scorers with 14 points on four of seven shooting, including 3-for-5 from downtown. His 14 points came in a span of only 16 minutes. Nichols has clearly impressed even the Knicks veterans. At one point during a live interview on NBATV, forward Malik Rose interrupted his thought to remark that "Nichols makes every shot, especially the tough ones!"
