Season Preview:

Mike Tomlin closed down his first spring shop as Steelers coach with starters at several positions still undecided. And that, Tomlin said, is the way he likes it. "I don't mind the uncertainty. I like the uncertainty that we have at corner, because I believe that we have some good candidates. I like the uncertainty that we have at free safety. I like the uncertainty that we have on the offensive line, because we have some candidates." Tomlin ended his spring sessions by saying no one will win or lose a job until training camp. "You define guys on how they play this game when they play it in pads," Tomlin said. "I like what I saw out there but I am not making decisions on what I saw in this off season." Here are the positions up for grabs and how they will start out when camp opens July 23 in Latrobe, Pa. Chukky Okobi runs first at center over Sean Mahan, veteran Deshea Townsend has the nod over third-year pro Bryant McFadden at right cornerback, veteran Ryan Clark will open over second-year pro Anthony Smith at free safety, and returning starter Max Starks starts at right tackle over Willie Colon.
