Stadium: Giants Stadium
Named after the team, Giants Stadium opened on October 10, 1976. Over 77,000 seats in three tiers circle the entire playing field. Two scoreboard/video-boards are located above the upper deck beyond both end zones. The Giants were the primary tenant at the stadium until 1984, when the New York Jets moved from Shea Stadium to the stadium. The Jets move to Giants Stadium was not a very wise decision by the team during their first several seasons. During many Jets games, the stands were half empty, and the stadium did not have many things to make it look like the Jets home. Prior to the 2000 season, Giants Stadium had an Astroturf field, but after the 1999 season, the Astroturf was ripped up and replaced with grass. However after the 2002 season the grass field was replaced with Fieldturf. Giants Stadium has over 70 luxury suites, and also has a restaurant that can seat 2,000 people. Giants Stadium is also the host to many concerts, the NY/NJ Metro Stars (MLS), and many other events. Currently, many Giants and Jets games sellout on a regular basis. Both the Giants and Jets have decided to partner together in an effort to construct a new stadium near Giants Stadium. They are in the early stages of planning a new stadium.

Season Preview:
In a move described by some as "unusually early," the Giants placed fullback Jim Finn on preseason injured reserve last Wednesday, rendering him unavailable, for all intents and purposes, for the entire season yet to come. The only way out of that technical red tape morass is to reach an injury settlement with him in five days after the injured reserve action, then sign him to a new contract. That would make him available after the 10th week of the season. The Giants are not going to do that, and the only other conclusion is that the eight-year career of the Penn graduate, the last man picked in the 1999 draft, has reached its end. Of greater importance to the Giants is the method in which they plan to adjust for Finn's departure. The only listed fullback on the preseason roster is free agent Robert Douglas, 6-1 and 230 from Memphis, and it's way too soon to tell if he has even an outside chance. Another option includes the installation of a two-back offense with 5-11, 230-pound Reuben Droughns frequently acting as the fullback. He played the position his first two years in the NFL (with Denver) but is adamant that he will not willingly return. "It's a career-ending position," he says. Still another thought would be to use the second-team tight end as an H-back, but since the Giants lost Visanthe Shiancoe via free agency they don't have a clear-cut second teamer and the one they hope earns the spot, fifth round rookie Kevin Boss (6-7, 260), was not asked to block at Western Oregon. The acquisition of veteran guard Zach Piller from Tennessee opens the possibility that the Giants will utilize reserve guard Rich Seubert as a "move" tight end or a fullback, but he decries that thought. "I want to play left guard," he said. "It's all I'm any good at doing." Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride tacitly agrees with all those who have said they would not want the fullback job. "When Reuben played it at Denver, it was in the Broncos' rather unique running game theory where the fullback has to be more of a running back," he said. "We're hoping a fullback will turn up. Maybe Douglas. We'll see what he really has when we get to Albany (training camp in upstate New York) and put the pads on them." No matter what the final resolution is, the Giants' running game will be the antithesis of what it has been. Jacobs is the anti-Tiki, blending power and size with his speed but not showing much elusiveness. Indeed, a fullback might be less crucial to that kind of bone-snapping running style. Sportsline.com
